This week’s assignment from the League: Blank check

profiles in history dreier auction

Alright fellow League members, this week we’re going to try something a little different–we’re going shopping!

Here’s a blank check, now head over to the Profiles in History Dreier Collection auction and buy something nice for the cave. (You can buy more than one item, but leave some for the rest of us.)

Funny money is great, isn’t it? As some you already know, fellow League member, Fong Sam, works at Profiles in History, so if you have any questions or want the inside scoop on a particular item, hit him up at his website, www.haxbee.com. Fong says that you can use images from the auction catalog in your post, just be sure to add a link back to the auction as the source. Have fun everyone!

  1. Jumped in early this week. Loved the catalog, made me wish this wasn’t just fake money. :)

  2. I’ve got my post lined up for tomorrow. Will post a link then. By far, my favorite topic so far!!

  3. This is so wizard. I really need to find a way to be Bruce Wayne.

    • Will the Batcave Toyroom be joining the League this week? There area lot of great Batman items in that auction!

      • Not only would I be all over the Batman items, but the Superman and Battlestar Galactica items as well, if I had a blank check. You don’t know how bad I want to be a part of the League, but I am just getting back into the groove of things, but you never know, I might need to sneek it in.

  4. Here’s my post “The Holy Grail of Shopping Sprees” http://www.rediscoverthe80s.com/2012/07/holy-grail-of-shopping-sprees.html

I decided to see what I could get on a budget of $50k. Think I did pretty well!

  5. I’ve spent all morning trying to write something about this collection, but I’m just not feeling it. It’s very odd. Am I collector-ed out?

    • Quick, someone check Iok’s pulse!

      • I know, it’s very odd. I think most of the stuff is just either side of my age bracket, so there’s nothing there that really presses my nostalgia buttons or anything that really ”speaks” to me as a collector…

  6. It was tough but I picked out some things that would probably not be my first choice after careful thought.

  7. Down to the wire as usual. I really need to start doing these earlier in the week.
