That’s a purty Batmobile

The 60′s were a time of free love, sexual experimentation, and this…

Well, that’s new. Actually it is! This sparkly, purple 1966 Batmobile is one of this year’s Hot Wheels Halloween cars, and is only available at Kroger or Frys grocery stores (and eBay of course). There aren’t any Krogers around here, but my pal Dex over at AEIOU and Sometimes Why has a Kroger connection (thanks Shawn!) and hooked me up with this sweet ride.

(Head over to Dex’s site now for a chance to win the Fangula and a Scooby Doo Mystery Machine!)

I love that card art but it would have been ten times better if it had the Batmobile on it.

There are five cars in the set, but the Batmobile is the one for me, because I do not collect Hot Wheels (I don’t!).

I don’t know, it’s kind of growing on me. I think it looks just fine in the Batcave–kind of like Batgirl snuck in and gave it a paint job. What do you think? Should Batman get a suit to match?

  1. Reminds me of one of the Chinese bootleg Batmobiles. Check out this one:

  2. That’s pretty cool! I’m curious to see what the Ecto-1 and Fangula look like.

  3. A nice ride indeed; mine will be reviewed closer to the end of the month (along with Ecto-1!)

  4. MUST FIND!

  5. Thanks for posting this! We have a local grocery store chain called Bakers, which is owned by Krogers and carries Kroger brand products. I’ll have to check ‘em out and see if they are carrying them as well.

  6. Too nice! Love that coloring.

  7. I flipped out when I saw the picture of this Batmobile. Yelled for my girl to look at it and she says “you are not starting a new collection!” Then I showed her the picture and she changed her tune to, it fits in the comic book collection and is thus acceptable. Of course, I don’t live near either of these chains but maybe I’ll luck out.

  8. i like this one- just found the traditional black & red ’66 last week

  9. I thought Target had these also?

I want one for my fleet of batmobiles and have been on the hunt for one.

  10. Hey, just letting folks know I found these at Baker’s (a local grocery store chain here in Omaha) which is owned by Krogers, so if you Don’t have Krogers, but there’s a local chain that sells Kroger brand stuff, it’s worth checking out.

They were $1.99 each and with the seasonal stuff (Halloween candy, decorations, etc), at least at my local store.

Picked up the Batmobile and Ecto-1 and both are are a lot of fun and odd-ball additions to my Batman and Ghostbusters collections.
