There's a new Con in town. This past weekend, the VA Comicon moved north from its usual Richmond location, and hosted a show just down the road, at George Mason University. This was a fairly small show, maybe two large rooms, but it was absolutely perfect in my mind and reminded me of the conventions I went to as a kid, where the focus really was on comics and their creators. … [Read more...] about Report from VA Comicon 2018
Okay, so maybe I resolved to stop buying new toys for the new year, but come on, you know my weakness for Batman! I have stoically avoided these Lego Batman Movie mini figures until today -- that didn't take long. So after 25 blind bags, this is what I got. Not a bad bunch at all -- I love the Batman variants! I could have bought a complete set on eBay for $89, but that … [Read more...] about Resolutions were made to be broken
My kids have a lot of LEGO minifigures, and by "my kids" I mean me. Sure, they might think that all those figures are theirs, but did they pay for any of them? Nope, not a one. So, I'll take the hot dog man, and Batman, and viking warrior, thank you very much. It's great to line all these figures up in a row and make the strangest parade route you've ever seen, but I thought … [Read more...] about L is for LEGO Minifig Displays
Holy mother of all things that are awesome. For a guy like me, this is what dreams are made of... If you ever visit my home, you need to keep your shoes on for fear of stepping on a LEGO piece, and watch those elbows, because if you're not careful you might knock a vintage 1966 Batman collectible off its shelf. With the announcement that LEGO will release … [Read more...] about The LEGO Classic TV Series Batcave is coming soon!
I had the pleasure of attending the LEGO Brickfair once again this past weekend as it returned to the Dulles Expo Center in Chantilly, Virginia. The displays were just as mind-blowing as in previous shows, and it seemed like the number of vendors selling LEGO goods was bigger than ever before -- I'm not sure yet if that's a good or a bad thing though. By the time the 2016 comes … [Read more...] about LEGO BrickFair 2015
On Saturday morning, I rolled up to the a local church sale to find 120+ people lined up, waiting for the doors to open. I almost left right then and there, but I didn't know of any other big sales, so I got in line. By the time I made it into the church, about a dozen people had made their way to the toy tables. They were all starting at the front, so I decided those front … [Read more...] about Yard sale finds – LEGO and comic books!
The Lego BrickFair returns to the Dulles Expo Center this weekend in Chantilly, Virginia. As usual, the creativity on display is mind-blowing. Here are a few of the many highlights... There seemed to be more vendors than ever before at this year's show, which is a good thing as long as they don't crowd out the creators. That's a lot of Clone Troopers. I'm a … [Read more...] about Some highlight’s from this weekend’s Lego BrickFair
Th flowers are blooming, the birds are chirping, and people are hauling their crap out to the driveway hoping to make a buck or two. Yard sale season has arrived! On Saturday, some small neighborhoods near me were having their community sales. One was an older neighborhood, which I usually do well at, but it was a bust this time. The next neighborhood sale was the kind where … [Read more...] about It’s the most wonderful time of the year
