As a child of the 80′s, I wanted to be Daniel-san and kick some blond-headed Cobra Kai patootie. I practiced that stupid crane kick for hours, but luckily never had to use it in a real fight. Might’ve killed a man. Anyway, I digress. This new version with Jackie Chan as the Mr. Miyagi character doesn’t do much for me. I think that the ‘”kid” looks like he weighs no more than 12 pounds, and those sound effects when he hits someone are straight out of Rocky IV.
I find this old commercial more entertaining than the new movie’s trailer:
“Remember Daniel-san. True strength comes from heart.” Remember the 80′s? That was when kids could speak with a mock-Chinese accent in TV commercials. Try doing that now.
