Is it AU55 or MS63?

If that headline made no sense to you, then this article probably isn’t up your collecting alley, but read on anyway and get a little education! Coins are graded like every other collectible, but they are graded on a scale from “poor 1″ to “mint state 70″ with many levels in between. The grading of coins is a highly subjective matter so the PCGS Grading Service was created to help remove some of the grey-area that arises when coin dealers and collectors try to grade their coins. This service is certainly not new, but what is new, is the free online service PCGS recently unveiled. By visiting their site, you can see in big, beautiful detail how your coin compares to their grading standards. Probably the coolest feature is the iPhone app that lets you take this incredible resource with you to all the conventions and coin shops you visit.

Head on over to the PCGS Photograde site and check it out.
