The Washington, DC area is severely lacking in toy and collectible shows, so when the Timonium show takes place, it's always worth considering. For whatever reason, this show is always around July 4 or Thanksgiving, which makes it hit or miss for me -- family obligations tend to get in the way -- but this past weekend was free and clear, and I made the trek up to northern … [Read more...] about Toy Show Report: Dave Hart Show in Timonium, MD
Hasbro Jurassic Park Chaos Effect Pachycephalosaurus & Ajay Okay, this auction has been deleted but it is still listed in the auction results. This Jurassic Park two-pack sold for an astounding $12,100.00 after 71 bids! Who can fill me in on the story behind this toy? I tried to find some more info to explain this out-of-this-world price, but came up empty. WWE Jeff … [Read more...] about Top 10 most expensive action figures recently sold on eBay
I never did find a Deadpool or Wolverine from Wave 1 of the Marvel Legends X-Men series, but it looks like this Wave 2's Old Man Logan is being double packed in each case, so maybe one of them will find its way into my collection. … [Read more...] about Marvel Legends X-Men Wave 2
Some wallets were emptied at the recent Hake's auction. Hake's does a great job of only listing the rarest and the best pop culture collectibles, and the prices their auctions realize is a testament to that. Here are a few of the results that caught my eye. This Adventures of Superman syndication promotional kit sold for $4,283.30, well over the $400-700 estimate. This … [Read more...] about Some Eye-popping Results at Hakes Auction #220
Yesterday, I made the trek up to Timonium, MD for the bi-annual toy show put on by Dave Hart Shows. This is really the only real "toy show" in the DC-metro area, even though this is more a Baltimore show than DC, but we'll take what we can get. This show had over 80 vendors with well-stocked tables and wide aisles that made for easy browsing. The prices were great and … [Read more...] about Vintage Heroes found at the Timonium Toy Show
Lanard might not be the first toy company you think of when it comes to collectible toys, but their new King Kong action figures might change your mind. My favorite part of this video is when they say the toys are made for kids and collectors alike -- these toys are fun and durable, while also looking great on the shelf. So many of the action figures sold today break the second … [Read more...] about The Making of Lanard’s King Kong toys
Remco produced Hamilton's Invaders toys and play sets in 1964, trying to cash in on the popularity of the giant insect genre of movies of the time. The large insect toys had pull-string motors that propelled them towards the poor blue plastic soldiers ineffectively armed with bazookas and machine guns. These toys are insanely rare, and finding them in the original packaging … [Read more...] about Hake’s Auction is Infested with Hamilton’s Invaders!
The Big Flea rolls through town every two or three months, and after my last experience, I didn't think I would be going again for a while, but I'm glad it was a slow weekend, and I decided to visit the show again on Saturday. There weren't a lot of vintage pop culture toys to be found, but I was able to scrounge up a few fun items. I already have a few of those Batman … [Read more...] about Aliens spotted at the DC Big Flea
